Magnet Schools

Magnet schools are designed to attract students from diverse backgrounds. They focus on a specific subject, follow specific themes, or operate according to certain models. Connecticut operates interdistrict and intradistrict magnet schools.

Approved Private Special Education Programs (APSEPs)

Special education programs in private facilities with CT State Board of Education approval as private special education programs, including private day and residential schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and treatment centers.

Transition Programs

Connecticut Transition Programs offering Transition-Only Services for Students with Disabilities ages 18-21 including Public Transition Programs (PTP) and nonpublic Transition/Vocational Services Providers (TVSP).

Alternative Schools and Programs

Schools or programs maintained and operated by a local or regional board of education that are offered to students in a nontraditional educational setting and address the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of such students.
