The Pandemic Recovery report compares how overall achievement on the state assessments has changed from 2018-19. This report looks at the overall Performance Index in 2018-19 compared to the difference in Performance Index between 2018-19 and 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24. The charts show the 2018-19 Performance Index on the x-axis (horizontal) and the Performance Index Difference on the y-axis (vertical). The static chart shows comparison to the most recent school year. The animated chart shows student groups side-by-side and transitions between the 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24 data when the play button is pressed.
The measure used is the Performance Index (see brief video explanation of the index). This is the average achievement from all state academic assessments – standard and alternate assessments – in the three tested subjects of English language arts (ELA), mathematics, and science. It ranges from 0 to 100. The state target for the Performance Index is 75. This is reflected by the vertical line (called Target) at 75. An index of 75 means that students, on average, are performing solidly in the desired achievement level on their respective assessment.
